Do we spend time together outside of events?  YES!  Some sisters and alumnae helped aid a sister’s husband in planning a surprise birthday for her; between handing out invites, and baking goodies.  Some sisters are also involved in other Christian groups on campus together.  A couple sisters have enjoyed random Google+ video chats. Sisters also help each other study, have hang out dates, and cook together.

What makes our chapter unique?  There are lots of things that make our chapter unique the most obvious is that we are from California.  We are currently the furthest chapter west. Our wonderful little town of Chico is nestled at the base of the foothills in the Sacramento Valley. We are in a small country town, with lots of farming around, and many orchards that surround the area.  California is a beautiful and diverse place, and our chapter is nothing less; it is by God’s unfailing abilities that we can take such diverse women and bring them into unity.

What do we love about our campus?  We love how beautiful it is!  Our campus is an arboretum, making it full of various types of trees. There is also a Rose Garden, in which it is “illegal” to pick a rose.  This of course adds to the uncomfortable allergies, but you can’t deny its beauty.  Another is the beautiful creek that flows through the campus.  We enjoy crossing the bridges multiple times a day.  There are a lot of opportunities to get involved.

What do we love about the city where our university is located?  We love the clash of a rural town and a decent sized university.  We are by no means a large university, but when the college is ¼ of the population, we definitely stick out.  The at-home feeling you get as you walk downtown is unmistakable; if only we had a dollar for all the times we hear people who have moved from a big city say, “People are so nice here.  They just say hi to you as you walk by.”  People hold doors open for you and are always willing to help.  Also, we are blessed by location and according to a sister our weather is perfect 87% of the time.  Our Thursday Night Market is so much fun, and all the different types of small restaurants.  We’re lucky to have a bus system that runs throughout all of town and even to some surrounding towns.
